Overview
This guide outlines the process for manually setting up an iPad that is not enrolled in Apple Business Manager (ABM). The setup involves installing necessary applications, registering the device with Mobile Device Management (MDM), and configuring key corporate applications such as OneDrive and Outlook.
1. Preparation: Install Required Applications
- Tap App Store.
- Search for "Intune Company Portal" and tap "GET".
- Tap "Install".
- If prompted with "Sign in with Apple ID", enter the password and tap "Sign In".
- This may appear depending on device settings.
- Search for "Microsoft Authenticator" in the App Store and tap "GET".
- Tap "Install".
- Wait for the icons to appear on the home screen to confirm installation is complete.
2. Device Registration Procedure
- Tap "Comp Portal" on the home screen.
- When prompted, tap "Allow" to enable notifications.
- When asked about usage information, tap "OK".
- On the Sign In screen, enter your Office 365 credentials and tap "Next".
- On the Enter Password screen, enter your password and tap "Sign in".
- Wait for the screen to change automatically.
- On the Set up access screen, tap "Begin".
- On the What can MDM see? screen, tap "Continue".
- On the What’s next? screen, tap "Continue".
- When prompted, tap "Allow".
- On the Install Profile screen, tap "Install".
- Enter the iPad’s passcode when prompted.
- Tap "Install" again.
- On the Warning screen, tap "Install".
- When a confirmation message appears, tap "Trust".
- On the Enrolling Certificate screen, tap "Done".
- On the Profile Installed screen, tap "Done".
- Wait until the next screen appears.
- When prompted with the App Installation message, tap "Install" or "Manage".
- You may see 4 to 5 confirmation screens consecutively.
- A confirmation message will appear; tap "Open".
- Tap "Always allow".
- Confirm that "You’re all set" is displayed, then tap "Done".
3. Set Up Corporate Applications
3.1 Configure OneDrive
- Tap OneDrive.
- If a "Restart required" screen appears, tap "OK".
- Tap OneDrive again.
- When a data protection message appears, tap "OK".
- Set a 4-digit PIN code.
- Note: Repeating or sequential numbers are not allowed.
- Re-enter the PIN code.
- Once OneDrive setup is complete, proceed to Outlook configuration.
3.2 Configure Outlook
- Tap Outlook.
- Confirm that the displayed account is correct, then tap "Add account".
- Ensure the account is set to "Office 365".
- If a "Restart required" message appears, tap "OK".
- Tap Outlook again to complete the setup.
